QHY's 5III485C CMOS Astrophotography camera uses Sony’s IMX485 camera sensor. It is a back-illuminated, 8.4-megapixel color CMOS sensor with a pixel array of 3864 x 2180 at 2.9um. With its USB 3.0 interface, the full-frame rate of this camera reaches 44 FPS at 8-bits or 18.5 FPS at 16-bits. One benefit of the back-illuminated CMOS structure is the improved full well capacity. This is particularly helpful for sensors with small pixels like the QHY5III485C.
The resolution of QHY5III485C is 16:9, which is equivalent to the mainstream video output ratio. With the native high resolution, the 485C sensor can play a special role in recording astronomical video and astronomical science live broadcast. As such, this camera is particularly excellent for planetary and solar applications.
QHY5III485C is specially equipped with a 128MB DDR build-in image buffer. In non-video output mode, DDR built-in buffer can effectively relieve the transmission pressure brought by high-resolution large data volume and reduce information loss, so even if you're working on a large project and bringing in lots of data you won't have to worry about your camera keeping up!
